Three main components

Design of the BlueBox Ultra


The BlueBox Ultra consists of the following three main components:

  1. Separator
  2. Bioreactor
  3. Technics Container

1. Separator

The liquid manure is pre-treated with a separator to reduce the solids concentration. The solids separated from the separator can be used for agriculture. The separated liquid manure is fed into the bioreactor. The slurry upstream of the separator contains on average approx. 4-8 % DS, while the slurry downstream of the separator contains on average approx. 2-3 % DS.

2. Bioreactor

The bioreactor is a cylindrical construction made of GRP material, covered and insulated and fixed to a concrete plate. Intensive biological reactions take place in this tank (e.g. hydrolysis of solids and denitrification). The liquid is circulated by an submerged agitator. Sensors make it possible to ensure the desired operation of the biological reactor in the most cost-effective way.

3. Container


Image
The technical container is built according to our specifications and contains machines such as pumps and blowers, the control cabinet with the control system, as well as the membrane tank. The membrane is a simple and maintenance-friendly ultrafiltration whose sole purpose is to retain the bacteria in the system. The membrane usually only needs to be cleaned once or twice a year.

Functioning


The treatment in the BlueBox Ultra results in a reduction of the Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD) of approximately 96% and a complete degradation of ammonia, nitrogen and nitrates by a complete nitrification and denitrification of the manure. The BlueBox Ultra works like a municipal wastewater treatment plant - with the difference that the BlueBox Ultra has been specially developed for very concentrated, undiluted manure.

The pH value of the liquid manure automatically adjusts to a neutral value in the biology of the BlueBox. Operating the plant at a pH value in the range 6.5 - 7.5 ensures that no ammonia gases can escape into the environment despite the introduction of air.
